an up-to-date review of the garage bar Let me first say that I am the individual who wrote the november 2005 review below about the "most unusual crowd in cleveland." I am writing this review to give you folks a timely update on the groove at the garage bar. I wish I could give a positive review but alas I cannot Since the 11/2005 review things have gone steadily downhill at the garage bar mainly because of the inordinate number of men that end up going there. I was hoping this was just a temporary thing but that does not seem to be the case. For many many weeks now I have gone there on friday night and the place is overrun with men. Typically they are 3-4 deep at the bar. any women that are there are with somebody. This is a truly tragic development as the bar had promise. In the end I can no longer recommend the garage bar. Simply too many men. The really sad thing for ownership is the one thing that is bound to happen with male-dominated crowds at a bar is starting to happen--fights. Not good. anthony from cleveland 2/6/2006 most unusual crowd in cleveland I've been to the garage bar on repeated occasions and I must say you wont find a crowd quite like it anywhere in cleveland. I've never been to a bar where bikers frat boys tattoed freaks some hotties and even a few gays party under the same roof. Personally I prefer the Met Cafe and the Mercury Lounge downtown but if you despise hangouts like that where everyone is cut from the same cloth then the garage bar is for you. Anonymous 11/20/2005 Make sure to tip the waitresses or else.. they get really really pissed. I always tip before I leave and am usually very generous. I was in on 7/1. When I came back to get another drink this is what the waitress told me: "You didn't tip the last time. You're a bad girl. You're going to have to wait now." And then I was ignored. So I left. The place is overpacked anyhow. You can't hardly walk around. It's a fire hazard if you ask me. Between that and the rude wait staff I won't be back. Save your money and avoid the hassle. Go somewhere else. Cleveland Ohio 7/7/2005 Garage is the place to be... I live not far from the Garage Bar and each time I drive past it is consistently packed with people. If you venture out to Ohio City make sure to stop in for a vanilla coffee shot and a beer you won't be disappointed. Voted Best new bar in Cleveland for a reason... Cleveland, Ohio 5/6/2005 It's HOT I allways have a good time no matter what day of the week I go. I can't waight till spring sothey can open up the patto. The places gets packed. They also have hot bartenders. east side 2/7/2005 Had a Blast! I checked on the Garage Bar on Rockin 80's night and had a BLAST!! The best people watching! Great tunes! Reasonable prices! Great time! Got a little packed at times. Cleveland 11/8/2004 Another Ohio City Winner Just checked out the Garage Bar in Ohio City in the same strip as Moda and City Buddha just a few days after it opened. I was very impressed. The decor is something different for the area; kinda new age clean biker bar. The bar was stocked w/ plenty of good beers and their patio has to be one of the biggest in the Ohio City / Tremont area.
