I visited this restaurant shortly after returning from visiting my daughter in Japan. This is the most authentic restaurant I have found in the area and the wide variety of menu selections is spectacular. The portions, compared to what you would find in Japan, are huge! I ended up taking half the meal home with me. I don't eat sushi, so I can't speak to that, but I have now been there several times and have enjoyed the tempura, the soba and other dinners - all very good. north royalton 12/10/2009 Superior Dragon Rolls I commend Shinano on their service and food. I love going here and don't mine the wait. There is patience and experience put into the making the sushi. It's always a pleasure to watch. The staff is wonderful and they give you hot green tea (my favorite) while your waiting. Cleveland 11/20/2009 Amazing and VERY authentic! This restaurant is WELL worth the trip! Other (negative) reviewers don't understand what authentic Japanese cuisine is all about. The portions are just right to satisfy, and the food is rich, fresh, and high quality. The sashimi and many appetizers we had were a true delight. Don't miss the highly authentic leaf-wrapped red bean mochi dessert or the plum wine ice cream-YUM!! The service was attentive and quite friendly. This is a family-owned business worth supporting. If you doubt that it's authentic, they have menus in Japanese. ;D We will be back, and we don't even live near Cleveland! Anonymous 8/31/2009 Out of This World! While visiting in the Cleveland area, we dined at this fantastic restaurant. What a treat! The hospitality was so gracious, and the food absolutely delicious, from the sushi to the main course. One thing was more delicious than the next. And, I thought the price was quite reasonable for such an upscale atmosphere and such high-quality food. I may drive back again from Pittsburgh just for dinner! Pittsburgh 3/23/2009 Mediocre at best Our family is a big fan of Pacific East in Beachwood, so we were excited to try another sushi restaurant. Wow, were we disappointed. Not only were the prices higher, the portions smaller (fewer pieces and the hand rolls are embarrasingly undersized) and the service slower...but the sushi was just average. To add insult to injury, the restaurant even charged extra just for a side of tariyaki sauce. Granted, $1.75 isn't expensive, but to nickle and dime patrons for an already mediocre dinner and experience is in poor taste. At this rate, I give the place 6 months. LOVE THE NEW LOCATION. lyndhurst 2/11/2009 authenticity I have not found another Japanese restaurant around Cleveland that offers more authentic or uncommon dishes. They have a menu in Japanese that offers dishes not noted on the English version of the menu. The easy part of being an actual Japanese restaurant starts with the steamed towel and the green tea.
