This was my first time at Lolita's in Tremont. The food was and wine was very good, I had the gnocchi as en entree. My husband thought the flavors in his dish were delicious. The atmosphere was great and the portion sizes were just perfect. However, our service was sub-par. The server was sarcastic and we waited forever for him to do everything. I am looking forward to trying Lola's next time. Brecksville Ohio 6/1/2009 Another Tremont favorite! My son was in for the holidays from Minneapolis and wanted to try one of Michael Symon’s restaurants. We frequent the Tremont area often, so we made a reservation at Lolita. I was skeptic as I thought, since Michael’s recent success on TV, it would mean he would not be that involved in his restaurants. I was figuring it would be over priced average food. I was completely wrong! The food was very good (some portions were small but not bad), wine selection was good, and the service was good. To top it off, Michael Symon stopped by and chatted with us for about ten minutes. He is a very down to earth guy!! I was very surprised, as I have met another Food Network celebrity (the guy with the sunglasses on the back of his head) on a flight before and I didn’t get the same impression. Anonymous 12/31/2008 Missing you My husband and I relocated to Cleveland in July after living in Philadelphia and Chicago. The first THREE TIMES we went to Lolita we LOVED it! Great wine, service and food. The macaroni entree is to die for and the gnocchi entree with braised pork was among the best dishes I have ever eaten in restaurants across the United States and Europe! We returned a couple of weeks ago and were sadly disappointed in some changes to the menu, including a different gnocchi entree that tasted like it was covered with instant spaghetti sauce and ground pork. We loved our waitress, who thankfully exchanged the entree. What happened? We know he's the new iron chef and everything, but why mess with perfection? Come back, Michael Symon! We'll try again another time.... Anonymous 1/29/2008 Wow I loved it! The space is beautiful - the bar is very interesting and impressive. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the drinks, the food, and even the friendly people who sat down next to us at the bar. We received excellent service from the moment we stepped into the space until we left. My only criticism was the noise (probably can't be helped) and it was just a little too dimly lit for these eyes of mine. All in all - a great experience! South Euclid 10/21/2007 Worth a 2 hour drive!! Our first experience with Lolita was in October of 2006. Came to Beechwood to purchase an entry door system. Experienced an awesome dinner at Lolita: drinks, wine, appetizers (go for the "big board"), dinner, dessert and service were outstanding. My wife and I had a great time dining and talking with the server. Week before Mother's Day: booked a night at the Hyatt so we could again enjoy a dinner at Lolita... without the two hour drive home. Another great evening! Memorial Day weekend: daughter's boyfriend was visiting from New York City. Seven o'clock in the evening and everyone was trying to decide what to do later. I said to my wife, "Want to go to Cleveland?" She knew what that meant. In fifteen minutes we were in the car, on our way. Yeah, you guessed it: another great evening at Lolita! We certainly aren't typical, but we all enjoy great food in a stunning presentation. I wrote this review because Lolita is an exceptional restaurant with some great servers. Visit the restaurant. Talk with the servers. Try something a little different. Get involved in the experience. I truly think you will find Lolita to be an excellent choice! Gerald Miller Gerald Miller from Murrysville, PA 6/8/2007 Bad service I was very excited to finally try Lolita after hearing so much about it. I went there to celebrate my friend's birthday. Unfortunately, our server was awful!! He never gave us eye contact, was very sarcastic, and when we let him know that it was my friend's birthday, he totally ignored it. The food was pretty good though. We shared 6 different dishes. The portion were small. I loved the ambiance and the interior design...but overall, staff is very snobby which left the 4 of us a bad aftertaste. cleveland 5/20/2007 Great happy hour Lolita is one of my favorite spots in Cleveland. The food is excellent and the wines are very good. They have just started a $5 happy hour menu that is worth checking out. One more thing is they no longer allow smoking. rocky river 3/14/2007 made it work Fabulous late night spot. Initially wanted to go to Momochoa for late night margs and guac but were dissapointed to find that they stop serving at 11:00. Upon a tip from the wait staff we headed for Lolita. There $5 late night menu was incredible. Gave us the opportunity to sample some of Symon's fine dining at a fraction of the price (late night $5 drink specials as well, try the beta!). Large portions, great atmosphere, strongly encourage you to experience this late night palate pleaser. Tim Gunn from new york city 2/25/2007 lolita loves the food I visited this place when I stopped back to cleveland from vegas because I like the name. I must say the food was spectacular! Smoking allowed is awesome, I will always support a smoker friendly restaurant. The small portions are excellent, especially for dieters. My friend got the gyro, which I also tried, and to me it reminded me of the ones from Mykonos in Greece. Loved it all!!! lolita benjamin from vegas 1/13/2007 not impressed good ambiance and interesting menu, but we were not impressed with the food. The little plates are a great idea, but the portions are literally one or two bites, at $5 a pop. We did order a whole sampler though. The smelt plate was really fishy. I got the dandelion greens salad, and the dressing was really watery and tasteless. The bucatini was blah. My husband got the duck gyro which also was pretty blah. Another in our party got the skate, which was OK. The dessert was the best part, and even that was just OK. cleveland 3/27/2006 Lolita was Fantastic! I visited Lolita recently and it lived up to all the great things I had heard about it. Tucked away in a Tremont store front (like everything else in Tremont), it provided a fantastic evening. I understand why reservations are a must. Like the other viewers, I was suprised about the smoking. It's such an intimate place, that a little smoking is instantly noticeable, but it didn't ruin the evening. Cleveland 3/13/2006 Smoking?! The food was delicious and the atmoshpere was almost perfect. I love the smaller portions because one can try many things and not leave feeling too stuffed or guilty about throwing food away. The only complaint is the fact that smoking is allowed. I was also surprised when someone lit up next to me at the bar. My husband and I were eating some appetizers and drinking some wine when the guy next to us lit up. We both assumed it would be all non-smoking because the place was so small and trendy. Smoking is not cool anymore and it just seemed really tacky to permit smoking in such a nice place. Additionally the draft from the door blew all the smoke towards us so we didn't stay in those seats any longer than we had to. Please do away with out-dated and out-of-place smoking. It really ruins the experience for those that do not smoke (over 70% of the population)! Carrie from Medina 11/19/2005 Awesome night at Lolita's First time at Lolita Bistro and I almost did not go because of those other reviews. I loved it! The food was great the atmosphere was nice great wine selection the service was beyond excellent and the owners/chef are A+ thankyou to Lolita and chef/owner Mike for making my evening wonderful. Will be back! Anonymous 11/7/2005 Lolita: smoking allowed?? I went to Lolita for the first time and discovered why Mr. Symon is a Cleveland celebrity. The retaurant is a leader in food wine service (great bartenders!). Much to my surprise someone lit a cigarette next to me while I enjoyed great food and wine. Seemed so tacky. Wow how can smoking still be allowed in places like this? My advice to Lolita- you are one of the best we have- lead don't follow. Be progressive and ban smoking. I'll be back when you do. Cleveland 10/29/2005 Not Good Unfortunately my experience at Lolita was suboptimal. The wait staff was snobbish. My mussels were too salty. My date's pork chops were overly charred and tasted terrible. I loved Lola but I did not enjoy Lolita. from 9/7/2005 Post your own review of this venuePlease take a look at our guidelines for help and our disclaimer.
