Chef/Owner Zach Bruell (who also operates Parallax and Table 45) has officially opened L'Albatros, a French cuisine-styled restaurant
We made our reservation this year well in advance of Valentines Day and looked forward to dining on traditional french cuisine. Much to our dismay- the dining was dismal. Bad service, like a salad plate that was never cleared, just pushed aside by a waiter who then sat our main courses down on the table. Or the face that I was never asked if I would like another drink after my first glass of wine. After all of that- I was hoping to at least have a nice steak, wrong. It was so salty and sour I could barely eat it. The waiter never came back to ask if it was prepared correctly- so no chance to complain. My husbands diner was worse- the Chicken was dry, the spatzel had no taste. Just skip this place altogether until they get it together. It was not the Valentines I had hoped for. PS- the cheese course was the only thing worth eating. Akron 2/16/2010 Albatros that does not fly Where to start? Perhaps with "metered" parking machine? Inattentive host when I arrived? The same host who wanted to seat me at the bar inspite of my reservation for a table (I was entertaining clients)! Drinks that did not arrive for 20 or so minutes. Table server who ignored us and did not place bread on our table even though he did so twice for a neighboring table. A snippy, defensive and totally unprofessionla waitress? Order of sparkling water that never materialized? Manager's appearence that was promised that never occured? Wow! I guess after 1 week of being open - will this Albatros fly? The food - well...mussels were good - but why on earth would you spread cheese over fries that were stuck amid the beautiful mussels? Can't speak for my guests who had chicken and steak. And lastly - the decor - a miss (lunatic asylum off white) with no color and bare walls. Should you have opened this place before your Albatros learned how to fly?
