Honestly, the food was fantastic and the service was incredible. The garden patio is beautiful and the rest of the restaurant is very elegant and romantic. However, my husband and I will not be returning for ethical reasons. We have eaten at Guarino's many times, and EVERY TIME we go there, we witness the management verbally abusing the employees. There is a difference between constructive, firm reprimanding and plain cruelty. It is unbelievable unless you witness it yourself. Cleveland, OH 5/29/2010 Worst meal ever My family and I went to dinner at Guarino's on Sunday May 23, 2010. We had a party of 10. I called to make reserations two weeks prior. When we arrived, the hostess seated us outside. I asked if they had something inside. She said no, they had a couple of big parties. Usually when you make reservations, they ask if outside is okay. They give you the choice. Strike one. The drinks were delivered. There was visable grease floating on top of the iced tea and soda. We sent one back, but we should have sent 4 drinks back. After an hour and 25 minutes (more than 45 minutes with empty drinks) we asked if they forgot about us. The server said he would send the manager over. We asked for refills, (they never offered refills the whole meal)and it took more than 10 minutes to get more soft drinks. The manager came over and asked if there was a problem. I stated yes, ... we have been here almost an hour and a half and haven't been served salads yet. She said "Are you mad?" I said yes we have children with us who will only be good for so long. The salads came out and the entrees were delivered while we were eating our salads. The food was horrible. My chicken tasted like it had been prepared hours prior and sat under the heat lamps. The portions were small and way overpriced for what was served. The check was delivered. Nothing was taken off for the horrible food or service. I typically tip upwards of 30% but i wish they could have received what was deserved which is nothing. They added gratuity to the check since there were 8 people. The never offered to comp anything or give free desserts. It was an extremely bad experience. I wll never be back andwill share my experience with many people. My husband, who usually doesn't get too upset with things, has filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau North Olmsted 5/24/2010 Think Godfather Wow! Guarino's was seriously just like a scene from a movie. My girlfriend wanted Italian so we went to Little Italy on the east side and were pretty pleased. We picked Guarino's just because they had their own parking lot which was pretty good because everywhere else you had to pay. We went in and the host sat us right away. He was the owner I think. Really nice guy and had a lot to say as he welcomed us to Guarino's. He recomended we get served by this lady who'd been there since the 1960s. Not the best server in the world, but she was pretty funny telling us that she spoke better English back then than she does now. I had Veal Parmesan and my girlfiend had Seafood Pasta. The red sauce was awesome- really awesome. Had some dessert, too. It was spumoni and pretty good. What was most awesome about the place was that it was decorated with black table cloths and lace. There were old pictures on the walls of Italy or Sicily all over and statues in the corners of saints or something. I felt like someone was going to come in and whack someone just like the movies. Good stuff and a decent price. You figure you save on parking, so that makes it worth the while. Gotta come back and see the garden, too in the summer. Stephen from Lakewood 2/5/2008 the bread is good if you can get it 8-8-05 2:30 pm 3 of us went to lunch...first we waited 4 minutes to be seated not acknowledged by anyone. given menues and water. 2minutes later asked if we wanted anything to drink beer brought right away. had one inch of beer left before anyone came back i'm a slow drinker we discussed leaving if i finished and no one came wish we had. gave our order and asked for more bread with our salads never came. salads very good and fresh. meals were served asked for bread again this time we got it. sauce was old meals just ordinary veal overcooked. service was poor at best. 7 people on floor never more than 5 tables. more concerned with setting tables than serving guests. save yourself some time and buy a loaf of bread and butter at the bakery! lorain ohio 8/9/2005 Post your own review of this venuePlease take a look at our guidelines for help and our disclaimer.
